Who should take the course?

The premier course is designed for anyone thinking about planning a fundraising event/benefit or currently planning. Our students include Development Directors, Development Associates, Event Chairs/Co-Chairs, Event Volunteers, etc. The course is also excellent for Auctioneers interested in expanding their business to include benefits/fundraising events or newer Benefit Auctioneers, since it focuses heavily on strategy and logistics.

How is the course structured?

The course is divided into 19 “Lessons” and each Lesson is made up of several “Activities.” An “Activity” usually has a short (1-5 minute) video and related Resources. The Resources are available for you to download/copy, edit and use immediately with your event planning. Each “Activity” should take you about 5-10 minutes to engage inside the course and then it’s up to you how long you take to implement.

Do I need to take the course if I’ve already planned an event?

The course is still great, even if you’ve planned events before. With over a decade of fundraising-event experience consolidated into best-practices, we believe there’s something for everyone.

I don’t want to do any “extra” work--I have enough work as-is. Will the course be more work?

We respect that you are busy and we don’t want you doing busy-work! Beyond viewing the Activity, any “work” you do for the course will be directly applicable to your event.

How does the platform work?

Once you register for the course, you will receive an intro email. Then every 3 days, you will receive another email letting you know that a new Lesson is available. You can click a link in the email to get to the Lesson. Once a Lesson is unlocked, you can easily access the current and any past Lessons. Inside the course, you will also be able to access the course community/discussion board, where you can ask questions to our team or to other students. If you purchase more than one course, you will have a “dashboard” where you can see all of them.

When does the material get released?

The course “drips” one Lesson every 3 days.

What’s expected of me?

The course is designed to be self-paced. You will get as much or as little as you put into it. We won’t track your progress or work, so the only expectations are those you put on yourself.

How can I get the most out of the course?

Current philosophy of online courses in general shows that students are most successful when they carve out specific time (we suggest 1-hour/week) to receive course-content. Keep in mind that after you consume the content, you will want to also allocate some time to implement what you’ve learned. The same things that will make you successful in taking the course will also make you successful in planning your event--consistent and focused effort.

Why is the course so expensive?

We monitor course activity almost daily, to make sure students aren’t getting stuck. When we see (or hear, through the community) that students are struggling, we create opportunities for support, like webinars, Q&A sessions, etc. We also provide 1:1 responses to student questions inside the course community. The course contains over 10 years of consultation experience and we are excited to have the opportunity to offer our expertise at less than 25% of the cost of a Premium Consultation Package.

Can I add more students or purchase more “keys” for the rest of my team?

The course allows for one student and provides “lifetime access,” meaning that one student can access the course forever, including all future versions.
